In a recent article published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Leaf et al discuss a case of laxative abuse, eating disorders, and stone formation. Eating disorders and related psychiatric conditions can lead to many electrolyte disorders and nephropathies, some of which can ultimately lead to nephrolithiasis.
