NephMadness 2015: What did the people say, round two
We have tallied the votes once again and this time the people and Blue Ribbon Panel had some major beef. In only four of the sixteen contests, did the BRP agree with The People. The agreements were:
- Sudden cardiac death
- Furosemide stress test
- sFlt1
- laparoscopic PD placement
Epigenetics was the biggest vote getter with 190, followed by laparoscopic PD placement at 172 and APOL1 at 158.
The three biggest losers were Open PD placement at 11, albumin as a nutritional marker at 26 along with nephrectomy for renal cancer also at 26.
The three best Cinderellas (lowest vote total for teams that advanced) were:
- Autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial nephritis at 65 votes
- Vasopressin in Sepsis at 66 votes
- Sodium restriction for CHF at 69 votes
The closest match-up was Pip/Tazo over Vanco 121 to 120.
