Peer Review Week 2015
This week publishers and other organizations involved in scholarly publishing are celebrating the first-ever Peer Review Week. The events of Peer Review Week are designed to recognize the integral role reviewers play in making journal content as valid, relevant, and impactful as possible.
Peer Review Week launched September 28th and runs through Friday October 2. Follow all of the action at #peerrevwk15 on Twitter, or check out these highlights:
- Free Webinar today (October 1) on Trust and Transparency in Peer Review at 11:00am Eastern (UTC -4h)
- A post on peer review around the world from the Wiley Exchanges blog
- So does the public finally ‘get’ peer review? and 5 reasons why peer review matters, two blog posts from Elsevier Connect blog
- An introduction to Peer Review Week from the Scholarly Kitchen blog
One of the common refrains about peer review is that it’s a skill that’s never formally taught. If there were a course on peer review, here are a few resources that might be on the syllabus:
- Peer review guide for early career researchers
- COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers
- Tips on reviewing from a journal editor
- How-to-review quick quide from Elsevier in English (also available Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese [see page 4 of these larger guides])
Last but not least, to the 600+ reviewers who have shared their insights and expertise with the AJKD editors so far this year, a big thank you!
