Test Your Knowledge: Tumors and Glomerular Diseases

In this month’s Quiz Page in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, Faur et al describe a case of nephrotic syndrome with a mediastinal mass. The association of paraneoplastic glomerular diseases with solid and liquid tumors is not novel. In a patient with active cancer, kidney disease is often related to the cancer or its associated chemotherapy. Test your knowledge by matching the malignancy with the glomerular pathology. Each malignancy can have multiple glomerular pathologies.

Type of Malignancy Glomerular Pathology
1. Spleen sarcoma A. Focal segmental glomerular sclerosis
2. Renal cell cancer B. Membranous nephropathy
3. Tongue cancer C. Thrombotic microangiopathy
4. Teratoma D. IgA nephropathy
5. Cervical Cancer E. Minimal change disease
6. Thymoma F. Crescentic glomerulonephritis
7. Hodgkin lymphoma G. AA amyloidosis
8. Myeloproliferative Disorders H. Membranoproliferative disease
9. Breast cancer
10. Monoclonal Gammopathy of unclear significance
