Sodium intake has repeatedly been associated with increased blood pressure. This is supported by cross-sectional epidemiologic studies as well as interventional trials. The most surprising finding regarding sodium intake and blood pressure is just how modest the reduction in blood pressure is for fairly substantial reductions in sodium intake.
