HIV immune complex kidney disease (HIVICK) is an immune complex attack on the kidney that leads to a variety of histopathologic glomerular lesions: membranous, diffuse/membrano proliferative and IgA nephropathy. The immune complexes involve specific HIV antigens as the target of the antibody response. HIVICK occurs exclusively in the setting of active HIV viremia. The incidence of HIVICK is declining but not as rapidly as HIVAN.
