The 9th annual National Young Investigators forum took place at NKF 2014 Spring Clinical Meetings where the best original research projects were presented by fellows in the US who won regional competitions. There were many great presentations, and a list of the winners follows:

Clinical Research Competition Winners:

• 1^st – Colin Lenihan, MD – Stanford University School of Medicine, Palo Alto, CA – “The Association of Hypertension with Glomerular Function and Number in Living Kidney Donors”
• 2^nd – Oluwafisayo Adebiyi, MD – University of Colorado, Denver, CO – “Pre Transplant DSA with Negative Flow Cytometry has Minimal Impact on Graft Outcomes”
• 3^rd – Susan P. Y. Wong, MD – University of Washington, Seattle, WA – “In-Hospital Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Adults with End-Stage Renal Disease”

 Basic Science Competition Winners:

•  1^st – Eric Mace – University of Virginia Health System, Charlottesville, VA – “Prior Ultrasound Prevents Murine Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury via Neutral Anti-Inflammatory Pathway in the Spleen”
•  2^nd – Ulrike Schnell, PhD – UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX – “The Role of Lats Kinases in the Development of the Kidney”
• 3^rd – Callie Kwartler, PhD – UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX – “Activation of Beta-Catenin in the Kidney Stroma May Play a Causal Role in Wilms’ Tumor”
