LowerBPGoalinPreeclampsia

The case against having a lower blood pressure target in preeclampsia is three fold. 1. Delivery, is only months away. 2. Concern of fetal exposure to antihypertensives. 3. Lowering blood pressure could adversely affect the fetus. The case for a lower blood pressure target is based on recent studies pointing to a low risk of blood pressure lowering to the fetus. In addition, the long-term health of the mother in terms of both kidney and cardiovascular risk is a primary motivator for more aggressive treatment.
