Obesity is strong risk factor for delayed graft function and poor patient survival in patients receiving a kidney transplant. The epidemiologic data surrounding obesity in transplant is compelling. However, these studies are all still retrospective observational data. No randomized trials assessing whether any intervention to modulate weight has been performed to confirm these findings.
