Tuesday night is the first Twitter Nephrology Journal Club: #NephJC
The idea of using twitter for journal club was pioneered by Natalie Silva and Fi Douglas, who created Twitter Journal Club. This was a big deal though it seems to have gone radio silent recently. But the genie was out of the bottle and a number of specialties now run Twitter Journal Clubs:
- Emergency medicine has The Global EM Journal Club
- General medicine has the Twitter Journal Club
- Nursing has the evidence based nursing journal club
- The urologists have the International Urology Journal Club
- The radiologists have #RadRes
- Public Health has a Twitter Journal Club
- The general surgeons have theirs
- The pulmonologists have respiratory and Sleep Journal Club, #rsjc
…and tomorrow night, nephrology will join the fold with #NephJC
The first article for #NephJC is Educational programs improve the preparation for dialysis and survival of patients with chronic kidney disease. This retrospective trial shows that the CKD screening and early intervention program, KEEP improves dialysis prep and survival in dialysis. A summary of the article, the ground rules for the twitter chat, and the schedule for future journal clubs can be found at NephJC.com.
Please join us on Twitter Tuesday night at 9PM EDT
and follow the hashtag #NephJC
