CKDDuetoPreeclampsia

Several studies have linked a history of previous preeclampsia with significant untoward health effects later in life such as kidney disease, albuminuria and cardiovascular disease. A landmark study from Norway published in the NEJM in 2008 demonstrated that preeclampsia was a marker for increased risk of subsequent ESRD. Hence, the need for long-term followup for blood pressure, kidney function, and cardiovascular risk assessment is warrented.
