#NephMadness 2025: Thank You

A 13th member has joined the NephMadness Court of Champions:

CAR-T for Autoimmune Diseases

Entries dipped to 907 this year, as we all navigate a changing social media landscape:

International entries stayed pretty steady:

As always, NephMadness 2025 was a true team effort, with planning starting many months in advance of our March 1st launch. We would especially like to thank and highlight the people listed below (and apologies in advance to anyone we may have inadvertently missed):

“Thank You” is by Susan Murtaugh on Flickr.

AJKD Editors

  • Editor-in-Chief, Harold Feldman
  • Deputy Editor, Tara I. Chang @taraichang
  • Deputy Editor, Julia Scialla
  • Engagement Editor, Holly Kramer @kramer_holly

These folks didn’t fit into any of the above categories, but NephMadness 2025 would not have been possible without them:

And finally, a special THANK YOU to everybody who submitted a bracket!

NephMadness is all about you, the nephrology community, and it warms our hearts to see you all celebrating the kidney. Here are some of the highlights we noticed over the course of this year’s madness:

Thank you #NephMadness for some good news today

My #NephMadness summary✨Aiming for my best- managed 🔝 2%As broadly disputed, not choosing HDF was THE #BlueRibbonFail (not commenting about winner). I guess in my part of the world, we are not facing donors' obesity🎭 For fun aimed for perfect 0- so close!www.tourneytopia.com/AJKD/NephMad…

It's that time of year for #NephMadness! After creating hospital site-specific brackets, @uwnephrology.bsky.social gathered at Stoup Brewing to “battle out” #kidney topics and ultimately crown a champion. What a fun and educational annual event @ajkdonian.bsky.social @uwmedicine.bsky.social

The annual #NephMadnessParty in Tromso, Norway 🥳 Between kidney cookies, rhubarb drinks, and licorice, we agreed that CAR-T is this year's #nephmadness winner 🏆 #arctic-cart

Looking forward to our 4 region #NephMadness mega-battle tomorrow!

Friendly Reminder: The bracket fun may be over but NephMadness content will still be around on the AJKDBlog. US-based physicians can earn 1.0 CME credit and 1.0 MOC per region through NKF PERC (detailed instructions here). The CME and MOC activity will expire on June 1, 2025.
